Code Officials
Streamline Energy Code Enforcement
The NFRC label certificate makes energy code enforcement easy. Many jurisdictions require the NFRC label certificate and specify it in the code because it is the only way to guarantee that the performance values presented are third-party certified to be accurate.
While simulation reports showing preliminary compliance may be presented for approval for building plans and permits, ask for an NFRC label certificate to ensure compliance before signing off on the completed project. Manufacturer-provided data and simulation reports from a lab are NOT a substitute for an NFRC label certificate.
Verifying Label Certificates
Beginning in 2025, we are transitioning our commercial program to a new methodology (Commercial Trendline Approach), which also brings new technology for easier certification for both standard products and custom projects.
During this transition, it’s possible for label certificates to be generated using our old tool (CMAST) or in our new tool. To verify a project’s certification, you may need to search each database until the sunset date for CMAST.

How can we help?
Code enforcement is hard. We get it.
Departments are under resourced and under staffed and it’s difficult to keep up with changes to building and energy codes, let alone enforce them.
We would love to talk about ways that NFRC can help streamline your enforcement efforts and give you greater peace of mind through third-party certification.
