NFRC to Explore Ratings for Three New Products

Greenbelt, Md., November 12, 2007 – The National Fenestration Rating Council announced that it will explore ratings for three new sets of fenestration products – dynamic attachments and exterior and interior window coverings. The NFRC Board of Directors approved the establishment of a series of task groups to explore the technical aspects of developing a rating during NFRC's Fall Membership Meeting, held Nov. 5-8 in Tempe , Ariz.

“We received numerous requests for new product ratings at our summer meeting in Denver and the Board evaluated them to ensure they fell within the mission and scope of NFRC,” said NFRC Executive Director Jim Benney. “We hope to add these new products into NFRC's rating and certification program and will closely monitor the progress of the task groups.”

“Ultimately, NFRC will be able to provide increased credibility for the manufacturer and increased value to the consumer through these ratings,” added Benney.

The Board established a new Attachment Subcommittee to oversee the work of the task groups.

NFRC's rating and certification program provides independent, third-party verification of fenestration products, allowing consumers to compare products in an apples-to-apples fashion and make informed choices based on their specific fenestration energy performance needs.
