Complex Product VT Rating Bid Review Task Group

CHAIRS CONTACT INFORMATION

Project Objective

Develop a methodology for determining Visible Transmittance (VT) for products with complex glazings. The project will seek to analyze a range of complex products using both integrating sphere testing and ray-tracing simulation and compare the methodologies. This project will research, develop, construct and validate a test methodology to determine the VT of complex products. This methodology will be evaluated against current techniques as well as ray-tracing simulation techniques to determine the appropriate ratings procedures for complex products. Source spectrum will be monitored throughout research project and reported.

Status

  • July 29, 2009-Solatube has completed its testing, Velux has partially completed testing, and LBNL will begin testing immediately
  • March 09-This project is now an interlaboratory comparison among Velux, Solatube, and LBNL.  This PMTG will still follow the progress like a research product.
  • The PMTG will reconsider the entire contract and may develop a new RFP for rating development or consider a new path to achieve the desired rating (see December 17 notes below)
  • ATI awared contract in summer 2007.  work not to begin until optical expert approved by this PMTG.
