The NFRC Label
The NFRC energy performance label can help you determine how well a product will perform the functions of helping to cool your building in the summer, warm your building in the winter, keep out wind, and resist condensation. For more information on the values found on NFRC labels, visit www.WindowRatings.org

NFRC Meetings
The NFRC holds two meetings per year: a Spring Committee Week and a Fall Membership Meeting. At each meeting subcommittees and committees convene to debate and move forward important issues relating to the energy ratings of the fenestration industry.Visit our Meetings page for more information.

NFRC ANS Standards
NFRC is an American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer (ASD) and develops and administers comparative energy and related rating programs for fenestration products.
If you wish to apply for membership on NFRC’s ANS Standards Committee, visit the NFRC Standards Development page.

NFRC MembersNFRC Members Set the Standards, and Standards Boost Business

Why is it Important to Vote?

  • As a member of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), your vote is your voice. In fact, it’s the one benefit that’s available only to members.
  • Voting is your opportunity to be heard, to implement your ideas on important issues that affect your business. When it comes to developing NFRC’s ratings programs, every vote carries equal weight, and every vote matters.
  • A vote cast by a small business owner is just as important as a vote from the largest, most profitable manufacturer. When you vote, you are determining the standards the entire industry will use to rate the energy performance of fenestration products. Voting doesn’t guarantee your preferences will prevail, but choosing not to vote leaves the future of your business in the hands of your competitors.
  • When your ideas get voted into action, you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you’re creating positive changes in our industry. You will see, through your own experience, that one person makes a difference.

Throughout NFRC’s history, improvements have been made by those who organized, networked, joined forces, expressed their opinions openly – and voted.

NFRC has developed and operates a uniform national rating system for the energy performance of fenestration products, including windows, doors, skylights, and similar products.

The linchpin of the Rating System is a procedure for determining the thermal transmittance ("U-factor") of a product. The U-factor rating procedure is supplemented by procedures for rating products for solar heat gain coefficient ("solar heat gain" or "SHGC"), visible transmittance ("VT"), air leakage ("AL"), and condensation resistance ("CR"). Together, these rating procedures, as set forth in documents published by NFRC, are known as the NFRC Rating System.

CMA NewsNFRC's Component Modeling Approach

The Component Modeling Approach (CMA) Product Certification Program enables whole product energy performance ratings for commercial (non-residential) projects.

The concept behind component modeling is performance data from the three primary components that make up a fenestration product are used for obtaining an overall product performance rating.
